“ It’s About Time”

“ It’s About Time” is the title of my upcoming CD on Big Moose Records I have spent 30 years producing, recording, arranging, and playing on other peoples stuff and all my friends and collegues tell me that it is “about time” I put out a cd of my own material. so here is a rough draft preview of a couple of songs from it. The background music is a bit of a mood music I did called “A Walk In The Woods” it is fairly self explanatory.

It is ironic because the the song is about embracing your dreams and taking the necessary leap of faith to “ go for it” without procrastinating. Realize the truth in the old adage: nothing ventured , nothing gained, so JUST DO IT. TODAY!

I wrote this song with a picture in my mind of a couple having a romantic dinner by candle light with a bottle of really fine red wine on a balcony overlooking a beautiful moonlit bay somewhere like Mazatlan or Puerta Vallarta. The introduction is a daydream sequence introduction for possible soundtrack use. I am still looking for a "latin percussionist(s)" who can replace these synthesized tracks with real drums.

The next one “Babe (Just a Little While)” © 1978 Alan Mayer .Is a song I have been performing live for many years and it's been a favorite of all kinds of audiences . In the late '70's we recorded it as a folk song. In the '80's it was done as a rock and roll ballad. We even did a heavy metal version for a while, and with a band called Structural Damage in a fusion rock style. This is the latest arrangement of my most requested song. It is a bit over produced but that was the point of this particular version especially since this time I played all of the parts.

“The Wednesday Evening Recording Project” This next one is the first song from my wednesday evening recording coop, which is a bunch of us musicians / recording engineers who get together just for the love of making music, collaborating and just plain having fun in the studio, sort of like the “Travelling Wilburies ” only we are not famous, not yet.
